Following on from last year’s wonderful success, The B!G Idea team are pulling out all the stops to make 2022 even B!GGER and better. We are so excited to be able to welcome 42 schools this year. This is a huge leap from last year’s eight but we are more than ready for the challenge. These 42 schools are dotted all around Ireland covering 19 counties nationally. We are aiming to be as inclusive as possible and we plan to cover both rural and urban schools as well as all sectors of education including ETB, Voluntary Secondary, Gaelcholáisti, Educate Together and a high proportion of DEIS schools. The reason we believe so strongly in inclusivity is because creativity is a skill which can be developed and learned and which we firmly believe should be accessible to everyone.
While 42 schools is a huge leap for us, sadly many schools who were on this year’s waiting list will not be accommodated. This is simply a financial and logistical situation but we are working hard to secure more funding during the course of the year which will open up the programme to even more schools next year. So many schools applied to the programme last year and we are so sorry not to be in a position to include them but we will be in touch with each one and we will most definitely have them on the top of the list for 2023.
The B!G Idea programme runs from January to May and so now is a busy time for us. There are approximately 80 teachers across the schools that we will be getting in contact with to officially welcome to The B!G Idea community. Each of these teachers will receive sign-up information which will allow them to access the unique Teacher Dashboard. The Teacher Dashboard is basically the bible for The B!G Idea. It is the main contact point for lessons, support and programme material. We make the process as simple as possible for teachers by uploading all of the lesson plans, videos and information onto the Dashboard on a weekly basis. As well as being a source of information, the Dashboard allows the teachers to communicate with The B!G Idea team and to ask any questions or clarify anything they are unsure about. The Dashboard also serves as a means to show you our appreciation. We will be offering some very exciting B!G Idea promotions which will be advertised on the Dashboard for all our teachers to avail of.
2022 is creeping up on us and we can’t wait to jump right in.
