Privacy Policy

Let us explain. Your right to privacy is very important to us. So, we are committed to being open and clear about what information we ask you to share with us, when we ask you to share it, how we use it and how we protect it. We want to inform you and help you to understand your rights, so that you can make sound decisions about what happens to your personal data.

So there you have it. Now let’s get started!

Personal data is information that relates to an identifiable individual, like you, such as your name and your email address.

Only the kind that is necessary to administrate and improve your experience of THE B!G iDEA. More specifically, you will be asked to share your name and your email address.

We ask you to share your name and email address for the purposes of administering and improving your experience of THE B!G iDEA. Sharing this information benefits you and THE B!G iDEA in a number of ways:

For students, it allows us to keep you up to date with project updates, latest news and announcements, send you mentoring communications, links to THE B!G iDEA virtual exhibition and respond to your enquiries.

For teachers, it allows us to communicate logistical arrangements around THE B!G iDEA programme, keep you up to date with project updates, latest news and announcements and respond to your enquiries.

For Mentors and Judges, it allows us to send you links to the programme, inform you about judging requirements, keep you up-to-date with programme updates and respond to your enquiries.

For the general public, it allows us to keep you up-to-date with project updates, latest news and announcements and respond to your enquiries.

While we’re on it, we do not collect any personal data, apart from the information that you share with us. We do not disclose your personal data to any third party without permission, unless obliged to by a rule of law. We do not sell your personal data to any third party. And finally, we do not store your data for longer than necessary.

We know, right!

Hold your horses! We’re getting to that part.

Students; you will be asked to share your name and email address when pitching your idea to our superstar mentors and uploading projects to the virtual exhibition.

Teachers; you will be asked to share your name and email when you sign up your class for inclusion to The Big Idea.

Mentors and judges; you will be asked to share your name and email when you agree to be a Mentor and Judge.

The general public; you will be asked to share your name and email address when you sign up to our newsletter to hear all the exciting updates on THE B!G iDEA.

Absolutely. We inform you before we collect any personal data, that way you can choose whether you want to share it with us or not.

You also have choices about how we contact you. You can opt-out from our emails and newsletter by unsubscribing at any time.

Before we move on, we want to let you know that you also have rights regarding your data. Yes, that’s correct! You can request to access, edit or delete your personal information from our database. Just let us know by contacting us at hello@bigidea.ie

Glad we’re on the same page. Get it?

This must be the longest you’ve ever spent reading a privacy policy. Go on, ask us.

If you are a teacher or an unsuccessful candidate we keep your information for 6 months after the exhibition so we can gather feedback on the programme.

If you are a judge, mentor or a finalist, we keep your information for up to 10 years as occasionally we may want to follow up on all your successes post-THE B!G iDEA.

Sometimes we will keep your personal data for longer if obliged to by law.

There may be changes to our privacy policy from time to time. We encourage you to review this page regularly as we may not be able to inform you beforehand.

More Questions? Really? Just Kidding!

No problem, you can contact us at any time at hello@bigidea.ie but please give us reasonable time to respond.
