Exciting news — The B!G Idea has received four prestigious IDI Awards nominations this year. As a result, the team is celebrating a major milestone for the programme and its growing impact.
Every year, the IDI Awards showcase the very best of Irish design. Although this year’s ceremony will take place online, the excitement is just as strong. Being nominated alongside some of Ireland’s top creative talent is already a huge achievement.
The Institute of Designers in Ireland hosts two major annual events:
Together, these awards recognise excellence across Irish design. Because competition is so strong, receiving an IDI Awards nomination highlights real innovation and impact.
This year brought exceptional success. The B!G Idea entered four categories and achieved nominations in each one. Consequently, the programme has been recognised across education, collaboration and social impact.
First of all, the Design for Good category celebrates projects that improve lives and communities. Specifically, it honours design that delivers positive social or environmental change.
By empowering young people to solve real-world problems, The B!G Idea fits perfectly into this category.
Collaboration sits at the heart of the programme. Students, teachers and industry mentors work together to develop creative solutions.
Thanks to this strong teamwork, the Collaborative category is a natural match and reflects the programme’s spirit.
Another nomination recognises the programme’s contribution to design education. This category highlights initiatives that connect design with real-world challenges and industry.
Through project-based learning, students explore how design shapes society and future careers.
Finally, The B!G Idea has been nominated in the Universal Design category. Inclusive design principles are embedded throughout the programme. Lessons, projects and teaching approaches ensure accessibility for all learning styles and abilities.
The online awards ceremony will take place on November 11th at 7pm. Naturally, the team will be watching with great excitement.
For now, everyone at The B!G Idea is proud to be recognised within such respected creative circles. These nominations highlight the importance of design education and collaboration in Ireland today.
Thousands of students across Ireland are developing creative thinking and problem-solving skills through the programme. With continued support from mentors and partners, that impact will only grow.
