What does creativity mean to you?
Creativity is a way for me to express my problem solving abilities and explore abstract thinking with no judgement. It’s a way to help me evolve my perspective constantly.
What attracted you to B!G Mentoring and what are you most looking forward to?
I’ve always had an urge to pass on my experience to someone and help them navigate the pitfalls of being a creative in a commercial industry. I’m excited to see the students excel and grow.
Why is creativity and innovation important in your line of work?
Design is not a constant. It is forever changing. There are always problems to solve, trends to consider and interests/demographics are adjusting every day. Creativity and innovation means we can come up with clever, engaging solutions to tackle any issue!
What do you now know about creativity that you wish you would have known earlier in your career or when you were a student in secondary school?
That if I worried less about getting what I thought people wanted from me and focused less on perfection and the fearing getting things wrong, I would have tapped in to my creative self a lot sooner! 😀
Last but not least! The B!G ‘Whatif!’ If the power of creativity was unleashed in every person, young and old and in between, what do you think Ireland would look like?
A happier place, I believe people would have a way to express themselves and deal better with abstract social constructs and ideas. It would allow people to judge less and embrace more change. It would allow people to feel and talk about things they may otherwise struggle too. I feel as through it would grant people the option to have less binary thinking and to realise, no matter what, they have the power to create a solution to what ever issue they have to tackle.
