“Open minds grow through creative micro-learning practices and the right resources—small, meaningful shifts that support you, engage your learners, strengthen emotional regulation, and build deeper readiness for complex tasks.”
Natalie McCormack, Strategic Project Officer and Facilitator, The B!G Idea
What if just 3–5 minutes could help your class feel calmer, more focused and ready to learn?
Open Minds is a collection of short, creative-thinking activities designed to help teachers build positive classroom routines, support emotional regulation and prepare students for more complex learning.
Developed with teachers and grounded in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles, the resources are designed to be flexible, accessible and easy to use with the whole class — whatever the learning needs or classroom context.
These simple creative micro-practices can be used at the start of a lesson, during a transition, or before a challenging task. They are designed to take just a few minutes, with minimal preparation.
Teachers who have already used creative warm-up activities have reported benefits including calmer classrooms, stronger engagement and improved connections with their students.
Now we’d love you to try them too.
Explore the Open Minds resources and discover a few simple ways to bring creativity, focus and connection into your classroom.
Tell us a little about yourself and your school, and we’ll give you access to the resources. We’d also love to hear how you get on.
