From personas to empathy maps to storyboards to journey maps, nobody could argue that The B!G Idea programme wasn’t varied and involving. From the beginning, the students are completely involved and choose a topic they care about. From this topic, they develop a ‘hero’ who is the person identified with the challenge. Every week our Ronan illustrates how to use a tool and this tool helps to unleash the student’s creativity. Each tool is a lens through which the student can view their hero. The tools help to develop an understanding of the hero’s life, dreams, challenges, emotional states and the various problems they encounter during an average day.
The important thing for The B!G Idea is that students understand how best to use the tools. The persona is a one-page representation of the hero’s hopes and dreams. The empathy map looks at what the person is seeing/thinking/feeling/hearing/saying in relation to the particular challenge that they are facing. The journey map is like a comic strip with a time and place where the problem mostly occurs for the person. The final part of the jigsaw is the storyboard which brings together the journey map and the empathy map and delivers the full story. All of the tools are brought to life with the help of the material in the Swag bags and the teacher pack including LEGO and lots of sketching paper!
Our programme is exciting, challenging, interesting and innovative. In fact, it would make anybody want to go back to school to learn all over again! No wonder we have over 10,000 students on our (now closed) waiting list for 2022!!
