We’ve said before that we don’t do things by halves and we proved that once again when we won, not one but two awards at the Carlow Web Awards. The B!G Idea dream began in Carlow and it makes us so proud to be recognised so close to home. Last night we were thrilled to win the People’s Choice Award and then completely blown away to also win the Overall Award.

Carlow Web Awards is a new initiative organised by Carlow County Council and its Local Enterprise Office in association with the Business Post, Content Plan and Institute of Technology. The awards aim to acknowledge and promote Carlow-based SMEs that have developed digital and web marketing platforms as part of their product offering.

Following 50-plus entries, the finalists were shortlisted to 25 companies, which were all chasing seven awards in the following categories: Best Export Website; Best Professional Services Website; Best Consumer Services Website; Best Manufacturing Website; Best Tourism Website; The People’s Choice Award: The People’s Champion! The judging panel for the awards was chaired by Kieran Comerford, Head of Economic Development and Enterprise, Gemma Purcell from Institute of Technology, Carlow, and Eileen McCabe co-founder of Content Plan.
The websites were judged on: Design; Ease of use; Copywriting; Interactivity; Use of technology; Impact & Benefit; Innovation; Content.

Speaking about the awards, Kieran said “ These awards are timely in recognizing enterprise innovation and the development of digital experiences and the finalists have all invested their time and money in the development of their online platforms”.

These two awards come hot on the heels of winning the Best Start Up at last week’s Enterprise Awards held at Ballykealy House, Carlow.
Speaking to all of the finalists, who are client companies of the Local Enterprise Office, Cllr Phelan added: “Our clients in Carlow are based in our local towns and rural areas and have availed of both financial and soft supports to help them build grow and scale their business and now may be enjoying success and making strides in areas such as business growth, turnover, employment, new product development, export markets and innovation. To all of you gathered here today as our finalists, I congratulate you for putting yourself forward to share your story of business success and for giving us the opportunity to work with you to promote and showcase your business”.

We know it’s not all about winning awards but we do appreciate so much the support and the belief that others have in us. The B!G Idea continues to strive to help young people to find ways to solve local and global challenges through creativity and having these awards in our bag is the icing on what has been a very productive, exciting year.

See below the feature in the Sunday Business Post from Sunday 13th March which made us so excited.
