IDI Design Education & Research Nomination

IDI Design Education & Research Nomination

It’s that time of year again! The IDI awards is coming up which is the equivalent of the Oscars for design. Last year we were unbelievably blown away to win the Design Education and Research Award as well as the overall Grand Prix Award. This was the first time that an educational programme won the Grand Prix Award in their 50 year history which is such an incredible achievement.

The Awards are hotly contested and with the level of creative talent in the country, it is a remarkable achievement to be nominated. The panel of national and international judges have made their decisions and the votes are now in.

And……you got it! We have been nominated once again for the Design Education and Research Award. Wahooo!!

Everything about this category ticks our box. It recognises the innovative work done by IDI Design Education members. The remit is that design students ‘need to think about the role design plays in our changed world, and its responsibilities’. The judges are looking for entries that encourage engagement with the real world, demonstrating collaboration with industry, culture and society, raising awareness of the value of design. Another B!G tick for The B!G Idea.

So watch this space! To make it even more exciting, the awards are back in-person this year after a 2-year hiatus. They will be held on November 17th at the Marker Hotel in Dublin. So move over Saoirse Ronan and Colin Farrell, we have our own red carpet to attend!!
