What a year it’s been!
In 2022, The B!G Idea reached a major milestone. After delivering our programme fully online, we returned to classroom-based delivery for the first time. We finally met students face to face and connected in person with many of our incredible mentors.
There were so many highlights that choosing just a few was no easy task. To reflect on the year, we asked our team to share their top 12 B!G moments of 2022.
Our annual Showcase is always special. In 2022, welcoming partners and mentors in person made it even more meaningful.
Seeing a Youthreach team win the Mental Health category was a proud moment. As a pilot programme in 2022, their success showed what’s possible with inclusive creative education.
Kim and Fiona travelled the country in May, visiting schools and meeting students and teachers. Seeing the programme in action was incredibly rewarding.
Completing our Impact Report allowed us to capture The B!G Idea journey in one place. It was a huge piece of work, and one we’re very proud of.
After waiting so long, we finally met mentors face to face. We shared a wonderful evening at The Dean Hotel in Dublin with mentors old and new.
Bringing lessons to life at Graco Studios was a brand-new experience. Seeing months of work take shape on camera was a real milestone.
As a remote team, time together is precious. Our October team day (and night!) in Carlow was full of fun, connection, and laughter.
In August, Kim and Niamh travelled to Denmark to work with partners on our EU project. Niamh followed this with a visit to Greece in November, strengthening our European collaboration.
Winning the SEI Impact Award and Rethink funding on the same day was unforgettable. We followed this success by securing the Aviva Fund, a massive achievement for a small but mighty team.
Seeing the second-year pilot programme come to life — and watching students develop their B!G Ideas — was incredibly rewarding.
In October, Kim and Fiona met with potential Board members. The result? Five fantastic new Board members joining The B!G Idea.
Watching last year’s winners visit Accenture to further develop their ideas and gain industry insight was a powerful reminder of the programme’s long-term impact.
As the year comes to a close, we want to say thank you to everyone who supported The B!G Idea in 2022.
Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas, and we can’t wait to see what 2023 brings.
