Social impact award Ireland recognition has been awarded to The B!G Idea after winning the 2023 Social Impact Award at the Diversity in Tech Awards. This achievement celebrates our mission to empower young people through creativity, mentoring and inclusive innovation across Ireland.
We are absolutely delighted to share this exciting news. The B!G Idea received the 2023 Social Impact Award, recognising the positive change created by our students, mentors and partners.
Last night, some of The B!G team braved the Dublin weather and travelled to the RDS for the awards ceremony. There, we joined many inspiring organisations that are using technology and innovation to build a more inclusive world.
The Social Impact Award celebrates people and organisations creating meaningful change. Judges looked for projects that remove barriers and improve access to opportunity for communities.
At The B!G Idea, our mission is clear.

The event also included powerful discussions about diversity and inclusion. Kyran O’Mahoney from Inclusion and Accessibility Labs shared an important message. He explained that technology should be built by diverse teams and should support accessibility for all.
In addition, keynote speaker Dr Norah Patten inspired everyone in the room. The Mayo-born aeronautical engineer spoke about the teacher who first supported her creativity. She also encouraged young people to stay curious and aim high. Dr Patten is currently working towards becoming the first Irish person in space.
Her message strongly reflects our values at The B!G Idea. Every young person deserves access to opportunity and encouragement.
Winning this social impact award motivates us to grow even further. We now want to reach more students and build more partnerships across Ireland.
