Creative skills in education are essential for young people preparing for the future. At The B!G Idea, we wanted to measure this impact clearly. Therefore, we surveyed our 2021 students to understand how the programme supported their learning, confidence and creativity.
In 2021, more than 500 students from 8 schools across Ireland took part in our free creative thinking programme. These schools represented the full education landscape, including rural and urban communities, voluntary secondary schools, ETB schools and DEIS schools.
Since then, demand has grown rapidly. In fact, more than 10,000 students are now on the waiting list for future programmes. Because of this strong interest, we wanted to understand what students gained from this first year and how the experience shaped their skills.
The results of our student survey were outstanding.
These results clearly show that creative education builds both confidence and social awareness among young people.
In addition, we work hard to ensure the programme is engaging and accessible for all learning styles. Activities are designed to support different abilities, interests and strengths.
As a result, 97% of students said they enjoyed the programme. This feedback confirms that creative learning can be both meaningful and enjoyable.
These results demonstrate a clear opportunity for creativity in education. Students want to think differently, collaborate and solve real-world challenges. The B!G Idea provides a structured way to develop these essential skills.
Most importantly, the impact goes beyond the classroom. Students leave the programme more confident, more motivated and more connected to their communities.
The evidence is clear:
creative skills are not optional — they are essential for the future of education.
