At The B!G Idea, our mission is simple. We connect industry and education in meaningful ways that inspire and empower the next generation of creative thinkers and innovators.
Recently, that mission came to life when MSD Carlow opened its doors to Team Sunny Sonics from St. Leo’s College. The students were winners of The B!G Idea Climate Change Award 2024, proudly sponsored by MSD.
The team impressed judges with their solar-powered mobile phone design, a powerful example of sustainable and eco-friendly problem-solving in action.
For the students, the visit was much more than a tour.
It offered a first-hand look at the wide range of opportunities available in STEM careers. Hosted by the welcoming MSD Carlow team, the day was filled with engaging and interactive experiences.
Students took part in hands-on STEM activities, exploring technologies shaping the pharmaceutical industry today. One highlight was time spent in the Quality Operations (QO) lab, where they learned about the processes that underpin MSD’s work.
Throughout the day, MSD team members shared their own career journeys, offering practical advice, encouragement, and inspiration to these young innovators.
For the students, the visit opened their eyes to real career pathways in STEM and the impact they could make in the world.
For the MSD team, the experience was equally rewarding. It provided an opportunity to showcase their state-of-the-art facility and connect with young people who represent the future of innovation.
