Recently, The B!G Idea was selected for the Social Entrepreneurs Ireland Impact Programme, a prestigious nine-month accelerator supporting high-potential social enterprises. Since 2004, Social Entrepreneurs Ireland (SEI) has provided mentorship, funding and strategic guidance to organisations driving meaningful social change across Ireland.
Last week, we had the pleasure of attending The Gathering, hosted by Social Entrepreneurs Ireland. The theme of the evening could not have been more aligned with our mission:
“Hope for the Future – envisioning a better Ireland.” Naturally, that message resonates deeply with everything we do at The B!G Idea.
In Kim’s own words:
“When I initially applied for the Impact programme, I did not succeed. For a moment, I questioned applying again. However, I went for it — and this time I succeeded. Being resilient and learning through failure — Flearning, as we embrace in The B!G Idea — is a critical component of becoming a social entrepreneur. Every win is hard fought.”
This journey perfectly reflects the mindset we teach our students: setbacks are not failures; they are stepping stones.
With the support of SEI and events like The Gathering, we now have incredible opportunities to connect with fellow awardees and social entrepreneurs. As a result, new collaborations and shared learning will help us strengthen our organisation even further.
Most importantly, this programme will allow us to expand our capacity and respond to the growing demand for The B!G Idea creative thinking programme in schools across Ireland.
Our ambition remains clear: to empower more young people with the creative thinking skills they need to shape their futures.
If you’d like to understand why we believe this work matters so much, check out our video:
“Our Dreams Create The Future.”
Because when young people are given the tools to think creatively, they don’t just imagine a better Ireland — they build it.
