Another month, another award possibility. We have always made it our mission to be the best that we can possibly be and we push ourselves all the time to achieve this. This month we have been so excited to be shortlisted for the Think Global Awards.
Think Global Awards is focusing this year on the theme of Cultural Change and will be exploring the various features which allow organisations to keep their company culture in an ever-changing world.
The B!G Idea has been shortlisted in not one but two categories (we don’t like doing things by halves!!): Inclusivity & Accessibility and Education & e-Learning.
Accessibility and Inclusivity is at our core: we promote an environment of equality and mutual respect.
The Education & eLearning award looks for organisations that have adopted innovative learning and teaching methods using technology.
The B!G Idea answers both of these briefs with Creative Thinking. Creative thinking is the answer to Mental Health, Housing, Equality, Climate Change, Healthcare, pretty much every challenge the world is facing right now. Students, regardless of their socio-economic backgrounds, have an opportunity with The B!G Idea programme to be heard through creative thinking. They learn critical life-skills which they can apply to positively impact their local and global communities.
We try to make everything as inclusive and accessible as possible which is why we provide all teacher and student materials free. At the beginning of the programme students receive a customised Swag bag with all the materials and stationery they need. Teachers aren’t left out either and they receive a teacher box which includes goodies such as paper, notelets, a Swag bag and treats to maintain some sanity! This makes the programme fair, equitable and accessible and means that all students regardless of background, living arrangements, family or economic situations have an equal chance to participate.
100% of students on our programme in 2021 learnt new skills. This shows very clearly that we have addressed a gap in the education system and that students and teachers alike are keen to embrace creativity.
We know we are on the right track by ensuring inclusivity and accessibility in education but Think Global have rubber stamped this for us by shortlisting us. Watch this space, you know we’ll be shouting from the rooftops if we are lucky enough to win but for now we are revelling in the glory of being shortlisted.
