2024/2025 Challenges

Your challenges are real-world problems that you have chosen to tackle through The B!G Idea. These challenges will inspire you to think differently, develop ideas and create practical solutions to make a positive impact on our society.

Mental Health SDG 3

Ireland has one of the highest rates of mental health issues in Europe at 18.5%. Mental well-being affects how we think, feel, and act. Stress, junk food, lack of sleep, and too much screen time can create unhealthy cycles. So, here’s the challenge: How can we make health and well-being cool and prioritised?

Climate Action SDG 13

Ireland is aiming to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 29% by 2030, though the original target was 51%. Globally, countries are pushing for a greener future, but we still face pollution, overconsumption, and ecosystem destruction—leading to more natural disasters. Climate issues are ongoing, but how can we make a difference?

Achieving Equality SDG 10

No matter who you are—your age, gender, background, or beliefs—all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. In Ireland, 12% of the population was born elsewhere, and that number is growing. It’s important to build a sense of belonging for everyone. How can we create communities where people feel seen, have equal opportunities, and celebrate our uniqueness?

Tackling Poverty SDG 1

Right now, Ireland is facing a serious Cost of Living crisis. In 2024, 74% of families had to cut back on essentials like heating, electricity, food, and clothes—basic human needs according to the International Bill of Human Rights. The Housing Crisis and Inflation are hitting these rights hard. Something has to change.

AI for Humanity SDG 9

Artificial Intelligence is now part of our daily lives, and within a decade, two-thirds of jobs in Ireland could involve generative AI. It’s not just robots—AI creates writing, images, and music, and it’s already making life easier. But with change comes fear: Can we trust AI? How can we ensure AI is used for good and makes a positive impact on people, communities, and our planet?
