We were absolutely delighted to receive this feedback from the very first school to take part in The B!G Idea programme in 2021.
Their review captures exactly why creative thinking, innovation, and collaboration matter so much in education today.
Speaking about their experience, John Cullinane, Deputy Principal at Presentation De la Salle College, shared how The B!G Idea supported students during a time of unprecedented change.
He highlighted how the programme gave Transition Year students meaningful opportunities to develop skills that will support them not only through Senior Cycle, but throughout their lives beyond school.
Importantly, he reflected on the reality facing schools today. The world is changing faster than any curriculum can keep pace with. Students are growing up in an increasingly complex environment, shaped by global challenges that demand creativity, innovation, collaboration, and resilience.
During the pandemic, schools had no handbook to rely on. Instead, they depended on creative thinking and collective problem-solving to maintain connection, learning, and community — even while physically apart.
According to John, the most effective way to support students is not through rigid content alone, but by equipping them with the skills and mindset to question, analyse, adapt, and embrace innovation as they navigate future change.
He emphasised that The B!G Idea programme provides exactly these opportunities, allowing students to develop confidence and capability while working on projects that are deeply relevant to their own lives and experiences.
The feedback closed with sincere thanks to The B!G Idea team for their generosity, flexibility, and commitment to supporting schools during a challenging time — and a clear enthusiasm for continuing the partnership in the future.
